MANILA Philippines – The Mexican opponent of Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, Sergio "El Cuato" Villanueva of Mexico, was first on the scales.
Both fighters came in at the super featherweight limit of 130 pounds.
Boom Boom is revved up for his comeback fight, saying that he feels in top condition and raring to work his way back to a world title shot.
“Hindi nawala yung apoy sa dibdib ko na maging world champion balang araw,” said Bautista.
Another Mexican, Martin “El Diablo” Tecuapetla, weighed in at 111 pounds, identical to Pinoy Milan “El Metodico” Melindo's weight.
A heated battle is expected when the two square off Saturday for the WBO international flyweight championship.
Main event fighters Donnie Nietes and Moises Fuentes looked ripped as they stepped on the scales.
At 108 pounds, the Pinoy is determined to keep his belt.
“Sa ngayon, kundisyong kundisyon talaga ako. Pawis na pawis na nga ako eh,” said Nietes.
The rivalry between the Philippines and Mexico will show up on the ring again at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena at the fight card titled "Pinoy Pride XXV: Rematch for Glory."
