MANILA – Air21 team manager and board governor Lito Alvarez said they are planning to offer their bigman Asi Taulava a 3-year extension after a fruitful campaign in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The 41-year-old Fil-Tongan played a big part in the Express’ Cinderella run in the tournament where they got past the fancied San Miguel Beermen in the quarterfinals, before going the distance against San Mig Coffee in the semis.

The semifinals stint was Air21’s best finish since joining the league in 2011 as the Clickers.

In an interview with’s Richard Dy, Alvarez said he is aware that other PBA teams wanted to get Taulava.

But he said it will be very hard for other teams to match their offer.

“Nagpe-prepare na ako sa kanya (Taulava) ng three years na contract, tapos yung pang third year niya, may option siya to be a player pa rin or be part of the coaching staff,” Alvarez said.

One of the teams interested to get Taulava’s services is Blackwater Sports of Dioceldo Sy.
