MANILA, Philippines – San Mig Coffee’s PJ Simon believes that crucial tiffs like their winner-take-all Game 5 against Air21 last Wednesday bring out the best in their team.
Simon said such games teach them to be more composed whenever they execute their plays.
“Malaking bagay na nae-experience namin 'yung mga do-or-die na laro. So pagdating sa game, ‘di kami masyadong nagre-rely sa individual talent at teamwork pa rin talaga kami. 'Di kami nagpa-panic,” he said in the PBA’s official website after San Mig beat Air21, 99-83, to reach the finals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
“Sobrang ganda ng teamwork namin kanina at pinakita namin yung experience naming,” added Simon, who finished Game 5 with 18 points on 2-of-3 three point shooting.
The Mixers will go up against Talk ‘N Text in another best-of-five for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup plum.
San Mig Coffee will have the upper hand in experience if the series reaches another do-or-die as the Mixers won two of their last three crowns in a deciding Game 7.
But for Simon, making it to the finals for the third straight time is already a blessing.
“Nagpapasalamat lang kami na nabigyan ulit kami ng opportunity makapaglaro sa finals,” said the 33-year-old guard.
