MANILA, Philippines – A younger version of the celebrated Philippine national football team is now making waves in Palermo, Italy.
The “Little Azkals,” named after the Philippine Azkals, have won five of their six friendly games, according to Ako Ay Pilipino website.
In its recent friendlies, the Philippine Under-14 team pulled off a spectacular 8-0 win over Regina Calcio of Seria B and a mind boggling 10-0 victory over Reggio Calabria’s Inter Reggio.
The exhibition games are part of the Little Azkals' preparation for the Asian Tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Malaysia.
The Filipino squad also had victories over Giacomo Tedesco Scuola Calcio (5-0), Christina Scuola Calcio (2-1) and Panormus Calcio (4-1).
Their lone loss was against Mezzojuso Scuola Calcio (0-3).
