MANILA, Philippines – Sports analyst Boyet Sison doesn’t think the elusive super bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will take place this year.

in an interview on ABS-CBN Sports+Action’s “The Score” on Tuesday, Sison said he believes that if ever it pushes through, the mega bout will be staged sometime in mid-2015.

“Si Manny, I'm sure will grab that opportunity. He will not pass up that opportunity fight [Mayweather], lalong lalo ngayong nagkakaroon na namang muli ng interes ang world boxing community, ang mga fans. Lalong lalo na sa pagkabawi niya [from two losses],” Sison said.

Sison said 2015 will be a perfect year for the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

“Remember 2016 is an [election year],” he said. “That fight, if ever that happens, could be the spring board for Manny to greater things.”

Pacquiao, who is currently serving as Sarangani congressman, is being eyed by Vice President Jejomar Binay as one of his senatorial bets in 2016.

Talks of a possible super bout between the two boxing superstars were resurrected after Mayweather hammered out a close majority decision against Marcos Maidana.

Pundits claimed that Mayweather looked vulnerable against Maidana’s swarming fighting style and therefore could find himself in deep trouble against Pacquiao.

The brash American fighter, however, said he is inclined to give Maidana a rematch in September.

The Filipino boxer, one the other hand, may be booked for a possible rematch with Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez in late 2014. Marquez will be going through an eliminator against Mike Alvarado on May 17 for a shot at Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight title.
