MANILA, Philippines – Sean Anthony will not be joining his Air21 team mates in perhaps their most important game against San Mig Coffee on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Filipino-Canadian, who played a big role for the Express during the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals, was ordered by doctors to rest and avoid aggravating his foot injury.
The Express will be facing the Mixers in a do-or-die Game 5 to determine who gets the right to face Talk ‘N Text in the finals.
“Malabo na siya for tomorrow, wear and tear na rin siya kasi naging injury na raw niya 'yan before nung nasa Barako Bull pa siya,” Air21’s physical therapist Mike Sunga said in an interview with Spin.ph’s Richard Dy on Tuesday.
Anthony exploded for 29 points during their series opener against the Mixers for the Air21’s 103-100 Game 1 victory. But the 6-foot-4 forward was limited to just eight points in Game 2 after the strain in his Achilles tendon came back again.
San Mig Coffee nabbed Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead in the semis, but Air21 bounced back with a 94-91 win in the following match to force the series-deciding Game 5.
