MANILA, Philippines – Talk 'N Text guard Ryan Reyes has been named the PBA Player of the Week after his hot-shooting from beyond the arc helped power the Texters to the finals of the PBA Commissioners Cup.

In Game 3 of their semi-finals series against Rain or Shine, Reyes took advantage of the defensive attention paid to Jayson Castro and Jimmy Alapag to fire 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the three-point area.

His efforts helped the Texters hold off a last ditch rally by the Elasto Painters and claim a 99-91 victory, sealing a finals berth.

“Everyone’s gotta be prepared,” Reyes told “Jimmy and Jayson, they get a lot of attention on offense, so once they (Rain or Shine) double-team, they just find the guys outside.”

“I happen to be open outside, so I just shoot when I’m open,” he added.

The PBA website reported that Reyes made a stunning 63.6% of his three-point field-goals in their three-game sweep of the Elasto Painters.

The Texters have now won 13 consecutive games, but Reyes said they are focusing on a possible sweep of the conference.

“We’re just focusing on getting our rest and winning it one game at a time,” he said.

The Texters are waiting for the winner of the other semi-finals series between Air 21 and San Mig Coffee, which is currently tied 2-2 after the Express forced a do-or-die game with a 94-91 win in Game 4.
