Ateneo trounces STI in Fr. Martin’s Cup

MANILA, Philippines -- The Ateneo Blue Eagles clobbered the STI College Olympians, 69-51, on Thursday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.

Nico Salva and Justin Chua scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the Blue Eagles to their 3rd straight victory in the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup Basketball tournament.
With Greg Slaughter and Ryan Buenafe hitting 8 points apiece, the  Blue Eagles kept their share of the lead with the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons.
The University of the East (UE) Red Warriors, who climbed to third in Group A at 2-1, blasted the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) Phoenix, 67-60.
Cameroonian cager Mustapha Arafat powered the Red Warriors with 12 points, while Kiefer Raymundo and JM Noble chipped in 11 each.
In the juniors action, the University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Maroons walloped Tiong Lian champion Chiang Kai Shek, 64-53, to pick up their 1st win in 2 outings.
The STI Junior Olympians got off to a 67-60 stopping of the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs.
Freddy Pajarillaga, Joshua General, Paolo Ancheta and Diego Miguel Dario joined forces for the Junior Maroons with 45 points.
