MANILA, Philippines – Filipino fighter Eduard Folayang hopes he has done enough to prove himself worthy of a shot against ONE FC lightweight champion Shinya Aoki after surviving the gritty challenge put up by Kotetsu "No Face" Boku on Friday night.

"The Landslide" showed brute strength while dishing out his improved wrestling and scoring several take-downs against Boku at the co-main event of ONE FC: Rise of Heroes.

After escaping from his Japanese opponent’s guillotine attempts, he showed off his super striking skills by connecting several high kicks and popping out a right straight that sent Boku to the mat in the final round.

Folayang said he prepared well for Boku’s strikes, particularly his potent right hand.
"Binantayan ko kung talagang darating ‘yung kanan nya. Nakita ko rin ang kahinaan n’ya sa mga kicks, ‘yun ‘yung mga factor na kinonsider ko para lumamang sa kanya," said the Landslide after the fight.

Folayang said he will take a well-deserved rest while waiting for his next opponent. He said he will leave it up to ONE FC whom he faces next, but said he hopes it will be a title fight.

"Hindi ko pa alam kung sinong susunod na makakatunggali pero I'm hoping kung sakaling maibigay ‘yung title shot, at least handang handa ako. Kasi nandito na tayo, kasi mahirap naman yung title shot agad pero at the end of the day hindi mo pa naipo-prove ang sarili mo na you deserve the fight," said the Team Lakay fighter.

Meanwhile, his team mate Rey Docyogen credited his training with Iranian wrestling coach Ali Heydarabadi for helping him improve his ground game, which was his key to a unanimous decision win against Guam’s Joshua "Hedgehog" Alvarez.

Prior the bout, the newly certified architect hasn't fought for a year as he was studying for the board exams.

Docyogen, however, showed no hint of ring rust as he handily prevented himself from being taken down while punishing Alvarez with ground and pound.

"Nakatulong talaga ‘yung tinuro ni Coach Ali," he said. "Dun sa laban ginamit ko ‘yung ring para hindi n’ya (Alvarez) ma-attempt yung takedown."
