MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao has a very good chance of beating Juan Manuel Marquez should there be a fifth fight, according to former three-division champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire.
Donaire, who is scheduled for a featherweight title clash against South African Simpiwe Vetyeka, said people tend to forget that Pacquiao was already beating up Marquez before being caught by that knockout punch in the sixth round.
“Marquez was almost going down in that fight. That's the thing that people forget and the only thing that people remember is that Marquez took him down. But before that Marquez was almost done," said Donaire,” he said in a report by Ryan Songalia to RingTV. (LINK ON RINGTV )
Marquez initially turned down offers for a fifth clash with Pacquiao but changed his mind after the Filipino superstar won the WBO welterweight title from Timothy Bradey last April.
Marquez wants to become the first Mexican fighter to win five world titles in five weight classes, therefore the WBO crown will be a welcome addition for him.
The Mexican, however, will first have to hurdle Mike Alvarado on May 17.
