MANILA, Philippines – Talk ‘N Text plans to end their series with Rain or Shine on Friday when they resume their best-of-five semifinal showdown in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Tropang Texters stepped closer to the finals after erecting a 2-0 series lead against the Elasto Painters via a 94-87 win in Game Two last Wednesday.
"We have a goal in mind and that is to reach the championship. We'll try to finish this on Friday," said Talk ‘N Text coach Norman Black in the PBA website.
The Texters followed up their 91-85 victory in the series opener by taking advantage of the Elasto Painters’ undermanned roster.
Rain or Shine went up against Talk ‘N Text minus injured players JR Quinahan and Jervy Cruz and even had to fight it out after losing import Wayne Chism in the second quarter due to a knee sprain.
The E-Painters got close to toppling the undefeated Texters when they surged ahead, 69-65, early in the fourth quarter after Talk ‘N Text import Richard Howell got fouled out.
Talk ‘N Text, however, managed to get the lead back courtesy of Ranidel de Ocampo and their prized playmaker Jimmy Alapag.
“[Let's] give credit to the RoS team. They fought with their hearts out, but in the end, it was Jimmy Alapag who made the big plays," said Black.
Game Three is set to take place at the Araneta Coliseum at 8 p.m. on Friday.
