MANILA, Philippines – World welterweight king Manny Pacquiao received a word of advice from World Boxing Council (WBC) president Jose Sulaiman.
Sulaiman urged the world’s only eight-division champion never to underestimate Timothy Bradley, a young lion seeking to win his biggest fight.
The WBC president told Philboxing’s Ronnie Nathanielsz that Bradley “is quick, hits hard and is a smart fighter.”
Bradley, the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight champion, remains unbeaten in 29 fights.
He will be challenging Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight title on June 9.
Pacquiao’s adviser, Michael Koncz, said the Filipino boxer is well aware of the threat posed by Bradley.
“[Bradley] is a young fighter who’s got an opportunity to prove to the world that he is a hungry fighter like Manny was although he is still hungry. I’m sure that Bradley is going to come prepared in the best shape he can be in and give it all he has,” said Koncz.
He expects the welterweight title clash to be an exciting fight because of the styles of both boxers.
“There are going to be lot of punches thrown,” said Koncz.
