MANILA - "No matter what the results are, as long as you gave it your best."
These were the words of collegiate basketball star Kiefer Ravena for his schoolmate and rumored girlfriend Alyssa Valdez after the Lady Eagles failed to claim their third straight UAAP Season 78 women's volleyball championship on Saturday.

Valdez scored 31 points in the losing effort from the Lady Eagles, succumbing to arch-rival De La Salle University, 19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-16. It was La Salle's first women's championship since Season 75, and its ninth overall.
Tagging the accounts of Valdez and Amy Ahomiro, who also played her last game as a Lady Eagle on Saturday, Ravena added: "Maraming salamat for carrying the blue and white with pride and humility. Welcome to the real world!"
Ravena also called Valdez, who collected her third straight Most Valuable Player (MVP) recognition in her farewell season in addition to three other individual awards, the "greatest MVP" to ever play collegiate volleyball.
Meanwhile, several other fans, including Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson, similarly paid tribute to Valdez on Twitter.
