MANILA – Abdulaziz Mbomiko scored 27 points to lead the Lyceum Philippines University-B Pirates to a 66-59 victory over the Trinity University of Asia Stallions last Sunday in the 20th Fr. Martin Summer Cup at the St. Placid gym in San Beda.

Mbomiko’s 3-pointer with 1:45 to go capped a 10-0 Pirate run, allowing them to register their third straight victory in the pre-season tournament.

The Pirates were trailing, 56-59, when Mbomiko struck with a trey and tied the match for the last time, 59-all.

Christian Pamulaklakin then stepped up with a split at the line, as did Peejay Soliman, whose drive in the last 1:03 gave LPU a three-point spread, 62-59.

They now share the lead in Group A along with the University of Perpetual Help Altas.

LPU-B’s latest triumph comes as LPU-A picked up their first win in two games in Group B following a 93-89 victory over the National University-A Bulldogs in overtime.

Mark Doligon scored 18 points for the Stallions, who are still winless in two games.

In the juniors division, the Tyler Tio-led Xavier School Golden Stallions turned back the San Beda-A Red Cubs, 95-93, for their first win in two games in Group B.

The SBC-B Red Cubs, meanwhile, crushed the Emilio Aguinaldo College-ICA Brigadiers, 79-63, to hike their record to 2-1 in Group B.
