MANILA (UPDATED) - Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao and Meralco forward Cliff Hodge have been fined once more by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Hodge was fined P20,000 for a flagrant foul 2 he committed against Rain or Shine’s Jeff Chan at the 5:21 mark of the fourth quarter in Game 3 of their quarter-final series, which the Elasto Painters won, 97-96, in overtime.

“That unsportsmanlike act was found to be unnecessary and excessive,” the PBA said on Wednesday.

Guiao, meanwhile, has been fined P30,000 for “causing contact against an opposing player,” during the closing seconds of the Painters’ game against the Talk N Text Tropang Texters last Monday.

With 17 seconds to go in Game 1 of their semi-final series against the Texters, Guiao had tapped TNT import Richard Howell, who was walking between him and a referee. Guiao was complaining about a perceived non-call at the time.

“It was found that the physical contact could have been avoided,” the league said of Guiao’s tap on Howell. “The act was classified as unsportsmanlike in nature.”

Talk N Text won the game, 91-85, to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Both Hodge and Guiao were slapped with fines last week as well, following an incident that saw Hodge hit Rain or Shine center Raymond Almazan with a closed fist, and Guiao calling the Meralco forward a “mongoloid.”

Hodge was fined P20,000 for his hit, while Guiao was fined P100,000 for using the slur.
