MANILA – Filipino mixed martial artist Eduard “Landslide” Folayang says he is ready for his One Fighting Championship (OneFC) showdown against Japanese-Korean fighter Kotetsu Boku this Friday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
“Handang-handa na po tayo. Ito naman eh pinagdadasal natin palagi,” said Folayang, who is campaigning at the lightweight division.
Folayang starts training at 9 a.m. but his work intensifies in the afternoon.
He says he is motivated by his experiences as an MMA fighter, which started at age 16 when he learned wushu.
“Landslide” also worked as a construction worker to finance not only his training but also to help his family.
“Mahirap talaga, kasi kailangan ko rin kumita noon para makatulong sa family ko,” he sad.
But the Team Lakay standout pursued his passion.
“Pinagpatuloy ko pa rin kasi bata pa lang ako, ito na talaga ‘yung pangarap ko,” he said.
Folayang has a 13-4 MMA record and is trying for his second straight win after beating Vincent Latoel last December. -- Report by KC Zalavaria, ABS-CBN News North Luzon.
