MANILA, Philippines – Talk 'N Text guard Jayson Castro and forward Ranidel de Ocampo are leading the race for Best Player of the Conference honors after the quarter-final phase of the PBA Commissioners Cup.
Casto topped the statistical points (SPs) leaderboard with 30.2 SPs after averaging 13.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists, the PBA announced Monday evening. [http://pba.inquirer.net/44615/tnt-studs-go-1-2-in-stats-for-bpc-derby]
De Ocampo was a close second with 30.0 SPs, averaging 15.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game.
Erstwhile leader JuneMar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer fell to third place (29.8 SPs), while teammate Arwind Santos was fourth (29.1 SPs).
Air21 center Asi Taulava rounded out the top five with 27.9 SPs after he led the Express to its first ever semi-finals appearance.
The rest of the top 10 are as follows: Gary David of Meralco (26.5 SPs); Paul Lee of Rain or Shine (25.6 SPs); Marcio Lassiter of SMB (25.3 SPs); Chris Ross of SMB (24.4 SPs); and Greg Slaughter of Ginebra (24.0 SPs).
Meanwhile, Talk 'N Text import Richard Howell is leading the Best Import race with 53.4 SPs. He is currently averaging 22.8 points, 19.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
San Miguel Beer’s Kevin Jones is in second place at 50.9 SPs, followed by Meralco’s Darnell Jackson (49.8 SPs), Barako Bull’s Joshua Dollard (49.4 SPs) and GlobalPort’s Evan Brock (47.7 SPs).
