MANILA, Philippines – The Air21 pair of Sean Anthony and Asi Taulava shared PBA Player of the Week honors after playing big roles in the Express’ upset of the San Miguel Beermen in the Commissioners Cup quarter-finals.

Anthony is averaging a career-best 21.5 points to go along with 9.5 rebounds for Air21, while Taulava has been no slouch, posting numbers of 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while playing 37 minutes per game in the quarter-finals.

Behind their strong play, the Express overcame San Miguel Beer’s twice-to-beat advantage, winning the first game, 92-79, and the do-or-die game, 101-95, in double-overtime.

“Si Sean, he brings energy to the team kasi kapag na-miss ‘yung tira, makakasiguro ka na makukuha niya ‘yung bola kasi nandoon siya para mag-dive for loose balls,” said Air21 veteran Mac Cardona.

Meanwhile, Taulava –the league’s oldest player at 41 – was superb in Air21’s double-overtime victory, scoring the basket that forced the first overtime and then firing five points in the second overtime.

“The hard work starts in the off-season with my personal trainer. When the season starts, I’m just out there having fun,” said Taulava.

Air21 has now made the semi-finals for the first time in franchise history, and will face off against the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers in Game 1 of their best-of-five series Tuesday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
