MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao happily welcomed the newest member of their family on Sunday after his wife, Jinkee, gave birth to the couple’s fifth child, a boy they named Israel.
“Masaya at talagang happy ako dahil lumabas na ‘yung anak ko,” Pacquiao said.
Israel was born at 3:22 p.m. and weighed 8.1 pounds. Despite being two weeks premature, Israel was healthy, according to the “Pacman.”
“Ino-obserbahan lang naman, pero malusog naman ‘yung bata. Walang problema,” said the champion boxer.
Israel was born via caesarian section, which Pacquiao said was the right decision as Jinkee had no trouble giving the birth.
“Mas madali ito,” he said. “Sabi ko tama lang ‘yung decision kasi malaki ‘yung baby.”
Pacquiao took several pictures of his youngest child, who will likely stay at the hospital’s nursery for another two weeks.
“Ito ‘yung talagang hindi mapantayan na blessing na Panginoon,” Pacquiao said of his new son. -- Report from Francis Canlas, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN.
