MANILA, Philippines – Undefeated American boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. will go down in history as the greatest boxer of all time, according to his adviser and close friend, Leonard Ellerbe.

“This is all history,” Ellerbe said in an interview with Examiner. “Floyd Mayweather will go down, in my eyes, as the greatest to ever do it.”

Ellerbe believes that Mayweather’s natural talent combined with his work ethic will propel him to the top of the list of history’s greatest boxers.

“Obviously, Floyd is just unbelievable and with him being the most talented guys out there, and working harder than everybody, he really hasn’t had to come out with his bag of tricks but he’s working like his nineteen years old,” Ellerbe said.

“His work ethic is unbelievable and I fully expect that all the work that he puts into this, the fans will really get a kick out of this next Saturday,” he added.

Mayweather will challenge Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto for the WBA junior middleweight title on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Ellerbe said that Mayweather’s success inside the ring makes him the most in-demand boxer outside of it.

“Everybody, when they come to Vegas, wants to train here at the Mayweather Boxing Club. Every top fighter is always calling the phone. They come here, they train, all the young guys come here because they just want to be part of this environment and absorb as much information that they can,” he said.

Ellerbe believes that when Mayweather finally retires for good, the boxer would have “accomplished everything that he wanted to accomplish, and broke all the records that he wanted to break.”

“He’ll definitely go down as the greatest to ever do it,” Ellerbe said. “And people won’t appreciate it until his career is completely over.”

“Because nobody will be coming out making $40-, $50-million dollar purses. How he’s changed the game, that will never happen again,” he said.
