MANILA, Philippines – B-Meg Derby Ace coach Tim Cone expects Talk N’ Text to make significant adjustments when they meet again in Game 2 on Wednesday.
Cone’s Llamados won the finals series opener of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, 88-82, by taking advantage of the Texters’ poor shooting.
Cone said Talk N’ Text will likely re-examine its mistakes and make adjustments in the next game.
"They'll look at the tapes, see what we've been doing, the pick-and-rolls, and also what we're trying to take away. They'll see those," he said in PBA.ph.
"They will make the adjustments and we have to make quick reactions in the course of the game. It could be difficult doing that. They have 48 hours to decide what to do," added the multi-titled coach.
This, Cone said, is why B-Meg will have to exert extra effort to keep their series lead against defending champion Talk N’ Text.
"I've said it before, that for us to win back-to-back games takes extra effort," said Cone.
Talk 'N Text coach Chot Reyes, meantime, said they failed to take full advantage of their scoring opportunities.
He said this led to their Game 1 loss.
"In the crucial moments, we kept missing," he said. "We had too many turnovers, missed too many shots, and they outrebounded us. But in the end, if we missed 10 less free throws than we did we could have won.”
"That's basketball. We need to put that ball through the hoop. In this game, we just couldn't," Reyes said.
The B-Meg-Talk N’ Text hostilities will resume in Game 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
