Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) superstar Chuck Liddell thinks Glover Teixeira has enough tools in his arsenal to beat reigning light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones.

Liddell said in an interview with Ariel Helwani on MMA Hour that if Teixeira does his thing right, he can end the fight in just three rounds.

"I think [Glover] either hurts [Jones] with a punch and he shoots and submits him, or knocks him out," Liddell said on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour. "I'm not sure which one, but it's one of those things. Doesn't get past [round] three."

Jones, who hasn’t been beaten since he won the title from Mauricio Rua in 2011, is scheduled to defend the title against the undefeated Brazilian this weekend in UFC 172.

Liddell has seen some of the best light heavyweight during his heyday and he thinks Teixeira has what it takes to be a champion.

He said the Brazilian has a good ground game that can offset Jones' wrestling.

"He has the wrestling to hang in there with him on takedowns, if Jon Jones shoots in he has to be careful not to get caught in something, if he does get him down, Glover is really good at getting him off his back,” he said.

Liddell said the thing that could sting Jones on fight night would be Teixeira’s punching power.

“I think the thing that’s going to have the biggest effect is the power that Glover has. He hits very hard."

UFC 172: Jones vs. Teixeira airs on Balls Channel on Sunday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. That same day, fight fans will witness the UFC's first broadcast on ABS-CBN Channel 2 at 11:30 p.m. with a special two-hour edition of the fight.
