'More refined' Pacquiao impresses Julaton
MANILA, Philippines – Filipina boxer-turned-mixed martial artist Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton was very impressed with former pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao’s performance against American Timothy Bradley Jr. last week.
Julaton, who will make her MMA debut on a One FC card next month, said Pacquiao looked like an entirely different fighter in the April 12 welterweight bout, which saw the “Pacman” outpoint Bradley over 12 rounds to become the WBO welterweight champion again.
“I see a more-refined (Pacquiao),” Julaton said in an interview with Hustle Boss. “He’s a lot more calculated. He’s different altogether.”
“If you were having his fight from just recent to even ten years ago, when he first fought (Juan Manuel) Marquez, it’s completely different. It’s nice to see that change,” she added.
Julaton said that the 12-round showdown – a rematch of the June 2012 bout that Bradley won controversially – proved to be a great match.
“It was competitive on both ends,” said Julaton. “I just feel like Manny was able to utilize his speed and his footwork, and he was able to carry on and win more rounds.”
“That led him to victory,” she said.
