Filipino American champion Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton
MANILA, Philippines – Former world champion Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton is looking forward to making her mixed martial arts (MMA) debut at the ONE Fighting Championship card on May 2 in Manila, saying she welcomes all challengers.
“I expect everyone to come at me,” said Julaton, a former super bantamweight champion, in an interview with Hustle Boss. “I’m able to bring in my name, and everything I’ve built up the past 10 years onto the stage.” [http://hustleboss.com/ana-julaton-on-her-one-fc-debut-in-manila-pacquiao-vs-bradley-ii-and-more/]
“Whether it’s a title fight or not, I feel like it’s going to be at that intensity. I just want to fight,” she said.
Julaton said training for an MMA fight is “more comprehensive” than training for a boxing match, although she treated her preparation as she would any other camp.
“You’re dealing with all sorts of different ranges,” she noted. “You have the hands and the feet, the elbows and the knees, grappling and so forth.”
“It all comes down to flow. That’s how I’ve always viewed boxing – flow, positioning and who gets there first. And with me, just training out here in Las Vegas, it’s nice to have all these different fighters from different backgrounds,” she added.
Julaton is looking forward to fighting in front of Filipino fans, as her debut match will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena. She said she is expecting a capacity crowd to come out and watch the fight card.
“It’s exciting to have that venue,” she said. “I can’t wait. It’s in the Mall of Asia, and it’s huge. They have a capacity of like, 20,000 people. They’re expecting that type of attending to come out for the ONE FC show.”
