MANILA, Philippines – The Alaska Aces are out to get their fifth straight win as well as the third seed in the quarter-finals when they take on the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers in the PBA Commissioner's Cup Sunday afternoon at the Araneta Coliseum.

A win will give Alaska a 6-3 record to wrap up the elimination round, good for third place.

But Alaska head coach Luigi Trillo is wary of the Coffee Mixers, who are at 4-4 and are also gunning for the third spot.

“The thing we have to understand is, it’s gonna get tougher from here,” said Trillo in a report. “San Mig and us, we’re gonna be fighting for third and fourth.”

“It’s safer to get to three than it is to stay at four. Right now, I’m sure everybody is trying to avoid (top seed) Talk 'N Text. They’re in another level now.”

Alaska has already secured a best-of-three series in the quarter-finals, but Trillo wants his team to enter the playoffs on a bright note.

“You want to enter the playoffs feeling good about each other,” he said. “You play teams that are in contention, and that is setting you up to the type of physicality and energy in the playoffs.”

Game time is at 3 p.m.
