MANILA, Philippines – We all know Pacquiao the boxer, Pacquiao the congressman and Pacquiao the preacher.

But now, the most popular Filipino sports personality wants to become Pacquiao the PBA player, too.

The fighting congressman confirmed to’s Gerry Ramos that there are plans to have him suit up for PBA expansion team KIA Motors.

"Hindi pa naman final, pero may planong maglaro ako sa PBA," Pacquiao told Ramos in Hollywood, just days after the Filipino superstar took back the WBO welterweight belt from Timothy Bradley.

Like any typical Pinoy, Pacquiao is a passionate basketball fanatic. He used to own and play for the MP Gensan Warriors in Liga Pilipinas.

He even plays basketball for cross training before his bouts.

Pacquiao, however, admitted that he needs to clear up the details of his role in Columbia Motors’ KIA team.

Columbia Motors, along with Blackwater Sports and Metro Pacific Investments (NLEX), were recently accepted by the PBA as expansion teams as part of the league’s expansion program.

If everything goes as planned, Pacquiao will become the oldest rookie ever to enter the league. He will also be the first professional boxer ever to play in the PBA.

In his training camp for the Bradley fight, Pacquiao played basketball nightly to improve his stamina and footwork.

“Yung basketball kasi, isa kasi yan sa (may) malaking impact sa boxing, (para sa) footwork niya,” his co-trainer and close friend Buboy Fernandez explained. “Short lang kasi ‘yung tinatakbo mo, tapos hihinto ka bigla.”
