Pacquiao has 3 options for next fight

MANILA, Philippines – Following his victory over Timothy Bradley over the weekend, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has 3 options for his next fight.

Boxing analysts believe that the current WBO welterweight champion may pursue possible fights against his top rivals Juan Manuel Marquez or Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Marquez, who will fight Mike Alvarado on May 17, may fight Pacquiao for the fifth time in pursuit of the WBO welterweight belt.

However, the Filipino superstar may opt to take the more difficult route of chasing Mayweather, who is due for a WBC-WBA welterweight title clash on May 3.

But if the controversial American chooses to play hard to get, veteran boxing analyst Ronnie Nathanielsz suggested a third option for the Filipino boxer.

Nathanielsz believes that a welterweight title fight against Pacquiao’s former sparring partner Amir Khan can be lucrative for the fighting congressman.

He said the British boxer has a huge following in England and can easily fill up a stadium.

“If Manny goes to fight in England, in the home town of Amir Khan, siguradong-punong puno ‘yan,” Nathanielsz told ABS-CBN’s Jeck Batallones.

Nathanielsz said Pacquiao needs to fight for a few more years because of his political ambition.

The Sarangani congressman is reportedly bent on getting elected for a senatorial post in 2016.

“[Firstly] kelangan ng pera para sa senatorial campaign, pangalawa he needs to be in the public eye,” said Nathanielsz.
