MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-Swiss racer Marlon Stockinger achieved a podium finish on Day 2 of World Series By Renault Round 1.
After finishing 14th on Day 1, the 23-year-old Formula 1 racer nabbed second place in the race that took place in Monza, Italy.
“Maraming maraming salamt talaga sa lahat ng mga kababayan, 'yung nakita yung karera ko. salamat sa lahat ng support, 'yung messages n'yo,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo.
Stockinger, who is part of the Lotus F1 junior team, will be getting a two-week break from racing before he competes again, this time in Spain.
Last November, Stockinger turned in an impressive showing in Barcelona, Spain by clocking the day’s best lap of 1:30.218 in Day 2 of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series testing sessions at the Circuit de Barcelona.
