MANILA, Philippines -- ABS-CBN's Dyan Castillejo appeared on HBO Sports to discuss Manny Pacquiao's huge popularity in the Philippines.
"The appetite for news for Manny Pacquiao is way up there," Castillejo said in an interview in Episode 3 of "HBO 24/7 Pacquiao vs Bradley 2."
Castillejo, who has been following Pacquiao's career for over 10 years, also described the Filipino boxer's rise from being a local hero to an international star.
"When he first won his first world championship, there was just a handful of us in a small hotel room and call to one person to get an interview. From that time, I have seen the interest in Manny Pacquiao grow by leaps and bounds," she said.
She also remembered the concern of Filipino fans when they saw their hero got knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012.
"Filipinos sort of see themselves in him, struggling, put down like that and still fighting, hoping to rise again," said Castillejo.
