Kurt Angle, who won Olympic wrestling gold in Atlanta and later became a professional wrestling star, said Thursday his bid for an Olympic comeback in London has been halted by injury.
Angle, 43, announced on Twitter that he was pulling out of next week's US Olympic trials with hamstring and knee injuries.
"We were hoping Father Time would hold off until after London. Unfortunately it hit me prior to the trials," Angle said.
Angle won the freestyle heavyweight gold at the 1996 Games. He went on to become a marquee name in WWE professional wrestling and then TNA Impact wrestling.
