MANILA, Philippines – Cebuano Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta is in high spirits ahead of his lightweight battle against Colombian Oscar Cuero.

Trainer Vince Parra said this is because Gesta’s father, Anecito, has been inspiring the boxer in training.

“It’s been good man. You know his Dad joined the team and he’s been a real big inspiration for him motivationally and it’s pushing his condition to the limits,” said Parra in

Gesta will fight Cuero in the undercard of the Brandon Rios vs Richard Abril bout this Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

The fight is set to take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Parra expects Gesta to have a relatively easy time beating Cuero.

“Condition-wise, I expect to see him in the best condition that he’s been in thus far and it’s good. It’s a good mix and thankfully we’re all being able to get on the same page together and I worked well with his father so I expect him to look really good,” said Parra.

Rios vs Abril will be aired on Studio 23 on April 15 (Sunday) at 12:30 pm.

There will be a replay on BALLS Channel on April 20 (Friday).
