MANILA - Lawmakers rallied behind their colleague, boxing superstar and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, and expressed confidence the Filipino boxing icon would win convincingly over Timothy Bradley in their rematch this Sunday in La Vegas, Nevada.

House Deputy Speaker and Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Carlos Padilla said Pacquiao is blessed with all the necessary assets to defeat Bradley.

"Manny has the guts, confidence, ring intelligence, stamina, speed, punching prowess and aggressiveness to overcome Bradley. These assets are also backed up by rigid training and a well-thought rematch strategy," said Padilla.

Padilla said that once again, the House of Representatives and the entire nation would be cheering for Pacquiao in his quest for another victory.

"No less than Manny himself has confirmed that he still has the killer instinct and is unafraid to use his power and go for the knockout. Let's all pray for his safety and victory," said Padilla.

First District Isabela Rep. Rodito Albano wished Pacquiao the best as he expressed confidence the boxing icon will get his revenge against Bradley.

"To Manny, continue to do us proud. You are a true icon and inspiration for every Filipino. No doubt you will emerge victorious during this Sunday's bout. We are fully behind you through our cheers and prayers," said Albano, a member of the House contingent to the Commission on Appointments.

Third District Davao City Rep. Isidro Ungab, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, said the Filipino people's overwhelming support for their boxing hero counts a lot to the morale of Pacquiao in his fight against Bradley.

"I also agree that Manny is the people's favorite since he has already regained his old form and ‘fighting stance’ in the ring," Ungab said.

Third District Pampanga Rep. Oscar Rodriguez said Pacquiao, who has consistently dedicated his fame and glory to his country and countrymen, would certainly come out the winner in the rematch against Bradley.

"Do it for the country, Manny! Your discipline and knockout punch will do it, plus the prayers of our countrymen and those who love you. Mabuhay!" said Rodriguez, chairman of the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.

Third District Cebu Rep. Gwedolyn "Gwen" Garcia said Pacquiao's strength and perseverance are his greatest assets in his sure win against Bradley.

"I wish my colleague and fellow Bisaya, Congressman Manny Pacquiao the best of luck and also pray for his victory over Bradley. Manny has the heart of a champion and the indomitable spirit of a Filipino. Those are his greatest assets," said Garcia, a vice chairperson of the committee on basic education and culture.

First District Nueva Ecija Rep. Estrellita "Ging" Suansing, a vice chairperson of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality, said Pacquiao is the greatest Filipino fighter to ever grace this generation. She said Pacquiao is fully prepared for the bout as he trained well and hard for that moment when he will face Bradley inside the ring.

"To Manny, your fighting spirit, endurance, and faith upon our Lord, as well as your burning desire to help the Filipino people will be your guiding force on this upcoming fight. Together with the rest of the Philippine nation, I, too, am filled with great pride and honor to know you. Know this, that while you are inside the ring, all of us are cheering you on and chanting for your victory. God bless you at Mabuhay ka, Congressman Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao!" Suansing said.
