MANILA, Philippines – Ginebra's LA Tenorio captured his second Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week citation following another stellar performance for the red-hot Gin Kings in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The Ginebra point guard has played a significant role in the Kings' current four-game winning run, including a 101-92 victory over NLEX last Wednesday, and a 101-82 rout of TNT KaTropa just last Sunday.
Tenorio averaged 17 points, 5.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in the Gin Kings' last two games, allowing him to beat the likes of San Miguel's Alex Cabagnot and Marcio Lassiter, Ginebra teammate Japeth Aguilar, Phoenix veterans RJ Jazul and Cyrus Bagio, Star's Paul Lee, TNT's Jayson Castro, and GlobalPort's Stanley Pringle for the weekly award.
Tenorio conspired with import Justin Brownlee in a stunning 42-point third-quarter rampage that helped Ginebra turn a tight contest to a one-sided rout against NLEX on Wednesday.
He finished with 13 points, five assists, three steals, and two rebounds for the Road Warriors.
Against TNT on Sunday, Tenorio took advantage of the KaTropa's porous perimeter defense to fire four of his five three-pointers in the final period, helping Ginebra snare its fourth straight win.
Tenorio had 21 points, six assists, three rebounds, and a steal in 33 minutes of action against TNT.
The veteran point guard is now hopeful that the Kings can maintain their sharp form with a long break coming up. Ginebra won't return to action until May 7 against the Alaska Aces.
