MANILA, Philippines – Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans has clarified that he won’t be retiring anytime soon.

Evans, who is due for an MMA bout against former PRIDE champion Dan Henderson, said he may have contemplated retirement in the past, but said speculations have blown the issue out of proportion.

"I think I may have brought retirement up," Evans said in MMAjunkie. "Not like I was going to retire. Maybe something in the future. But it got taken to the next level."

He added fans also tended to call for an MMA fighter’s retirement especially after a bad match.

"I lose a couple fights, and they're like, 'You should retire!' Fight fans, they get nuts," he said. "If you go out there and don't look sharp, they want you to retire right away."

Meanwhile, Evans said he expects a fun fight from Henderson whom he considered one of his idols.

Henderson is a Grade A wrestler just like Evans.

"Henderson's got those bombs," Evans said. "He's one of my favorite fighters, so it's going to be fun to fight him."
