MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao gave away thousands of dollars to his team members who won in their own version of "The Biggest Loser" before they left for Las Vegas for his rematch against Timothy Bradley.
The winners included Marites Diamond, who got USD 8,000 for losing eight percent of her body fat in their 2-week contest.
The US-based Pinay is the same woman who kept up with Pacquiao during his morning jogs in Los Angeles, according to Gerry Ramos on Spin.ph.
“Nagulat si Manny, akala niya ‘di makakatagal lalo na nung paakyat ng Griffith Park. Pero natawa siya kasi nung pababa na, nakita niya kasunod pa rin niya tsaka ni Bobby [Pacquiao],” Buboy Fernandez, a co-trainer of Pacquiao, told Ramos.
Diamond said it wasn’t easy shedding away the excess pounds.
“I’ve been into physical fitness pero not something like this,” she said. “Ang hirap pala."
Former beauty queen and actress Anjanette Abayari also joined the contest. She, too, was able to lose eight percent of her bodyweight.
“Today I achieved my goal Precision Fitness losing 8% of my body weight in 14 days... I held my breath as Manny Pacquiao personally watched our weight on the scale. And was so thrilled when I made it,” Abayari said.
Abayari, who was crowned Binibining Pilipinas-Universe in 1991, is best known for playing sexy roles in the 1990s. She portrayed the iconic Pinay heroine "Darna" in 1994.
