MANILA, Philippines – Rain or Shine will try to stop Talk 'N Text's winning streak when they slug it out in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday minus coach Yeng Guiao.
The Elasto Painters will have to face the Texters sans Guiao, who will be on a 10-day trip to Europe as part of his work as Pampanga congressman.
“Coach Caloy will call the shots for the next two games. We will be okay as long as they run coach Yeng’s system,” Rain or Shine co-team owner Raymond Yu said in the PBA website.
Rain or Shine will try to extend their run to two games since their stirring win on Wayne Chism’s debut.
Chism, who took over Alex McLean’s post as Elasto Painters import, led the team to a 99-75 win over GlobalPort.
However, Rain or Shine is expected to face a rough sailing against Talk ‘N Text which remains unbeaten in 7 games.
Unlike the Elasto Painters, the Texters are already assured of a spot in the playoffs.
“We want to stay on a roll going into the playoffs,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Norman Black.
“Rain or Shine is a good team so it will be a good match-up. The keys are to keep them off the boards and limit their three-point shooting,” Black added.
Game time will be at 8 p.m.
At the 5:45 p.m. curtain raiser, San Mig Coffee will take on Air21.
The Express are attempting to claim third place with Alaska to boost their chances of reaching the quarterfinals.
The Mixers, on the other hand, want to stop a two-game skid.
