MANILA – Football star Phil Younghusband revealed that he is doing well months after he and actress Angel Locsin broke up late last year.
ABS-CBN News caught up with the Filipino-British athlete over the weekend and he was brief with his reply when asked about his personal life.
Without actually mentioning his past relationship with Locsin, Younghusband said: “My heart is okay. I’m just concentrating on football and family.”
The Azkals striker said he is happy that football keeps him busy especially now that the Philippine team is set to fly to Qatar this week.
“I’m good. I’m busy with football. Marami akong ginagawa ngayon. The Azkals, aalis kami, pupunta kami sa Qatar on Tuesday. Meron kaming exhibition games. Walang shows, just football,” he said.
The Philippine Azkals will have friendly matches against three football squads, including the Malaysian national team, this month.
As part of the team's preparations for the AFC Challenge Cup in May, the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has arranged the national squad’s matches against Nepal, Qatar club Al Ahli SC, and Malaysia.
The Azkals will first take Nepal on April 11 and battle Al Ahli SC on April 14. Both games will take place in Doha, Qatar.
The Azkals will return to the Philippines to play against Malaysia on April 27 in Cebu.
Younghusband and Locsin became a couple on May 27, 2012, following a year-long romance that started with a tweet from the football player asking the actress out for Valentine's Day.
Throughout their relationship, Younghusband was vocal about his hopes of settling down with Locsin.
While Younghusband’s love life has been quiet since he and Locsin parted ways, “The Legal Wife” actress has already reconciled with former boyfriend, host-actor Luis Manzano.
