MANILA, Philippines – Cebuana Lhuiller and Big Chill look to keep their records spotless as they target a third consecutive win against separate opponents in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Monday at the JCSGO Gym.
Cebuana is playing the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns at 2 p.m. while Big Chill tangle against defending champions Blackwater Sports at 4 p.m.
“Hopefully, we could keep it up,” said Cebuana coach Boycie Zamar in the league website. “I expect (Cagayan) to be motivated when we play them.” [http://pbadleague.com.ph/news-page/1396748793/]
Cagayan Valley has lost two in a row, with both games seeing the Rising Suns lose control of the game in the second half.
Meanwhile, Big Chill head coach Robert Sison expects his team to have a tough time as well against Blackwater, which is also coming off two straight losses.
“Knowing where they’re coming from, they can’t afford to lose. But we can’t afford to lose also, so talagang pupukpukin namin,” said Sison. “We have to be consistent. That’s what carried us to the finals last conference.”
“So ngayon, wala pa siguro dahil the tournament has just started. But I’m sure we’ll get there,” he added.
Blackwater Sports hopes to get a boost from the return of Reil Cervantes, who did not play in their game against Jumbo Plastic to serve out his suspension after he punched NLEX center Ola Adeogun in their game last March 25.
In the first game of the triple header, Jumbo Plastic will try to win a second straight game as it takes on Derulo Accelero.
“This is another chance for us to take another step to the top,” said Jumbo Plastic coach Stevenson Tiu. “We should take advantage of the opportunity and win against weaker teams to be back in the playoffs.”
