MANILA, Philippines – Barako Bull pulled off a 92-90 upset win over fancied San Mig Coffee on Tuesday to post its second win in 6 games in the ongoing PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The Energy Cola were down by 16 points going into the final quarter when former Most Valuable Player Willie Miller sparked a comeback that tied the scores at 90-all.
Ronjay Buenafe provided the finishing kick by sinking both of his free throws with 7.2 ticks left in the game.
San Mig Coffee's Mark Barroca then tried to force the game into overtime, but missed his shot near the end of regulation.
Joshua Dollard and Miller combined for 26 points in the payoff period, wherein the Energy Colas outscored the Coffee Mixers, 30-12.
Dollard had a double-double of 32 points and 17 rebounds, while Miller added 19 points and 10 assists.
Barako Bull also pounced on the scoring struggles of James Mays, who only managed 4 points in the last two quarters.
Mays finished the game with 20 points and 21 rebounds.
San Mig Coffee, the 2014 Philippine Cup champion, was unbeaten in three games prior to its loss to Barako Bull.
It stayed in third place with a 3-1 record behind Talk ‘N Text (6-0) and San Miguel Beermen (5-1).
