MANILA, Philippines – The San Miguel Beermen vowed not to underestimate the GlobalPort Batang Pier when they face off in the PBA Commissioners Cup Monday night at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Beermen are trying to win their third straight game and fifth overall, while GlobalPort is just trying to get over the hump and nail its maiden victory.

“Our target is to make the top two, and we need to win as many games as we can. We’ll not take them lightly, and we’ll just do what we need to do,” SMB coach Biboy Ravanes told

“We’re just trying to win some games and to constantly improve,” added SMB consultant Todd Purves.

Meanwhile, GlobalPort coach Pido Jarencio hopes their much-awaited breakthrough will finally come Monday night.

“Makakakuha din kami n’yan,” he said.

The Beermen have won their last two games, including a 106-100 victory over Barako Bull last Saturday.

Game time is at 8 p.m.
