MANILA, Philippines – Filipino champion Merlito "Tiger" Sabillo vowed to bring out his ferocity when he defends his WBO minimumweight title against young gun Francisco "Titanium" Rodriguez at the latter’s hometown in Mexico.

Their bout will serve as the co-main event of the Jorge Paez-Vivian Harris fight in Arena Monterrey.

"I know little of the Mexican. Just that he’s very young. He must have talent to be looking for a world title, but I’m ready," Sabillo said in Fight News.

The Negros-born Filipino promised to extend his title reign which began when he knocked out Colombia’s Jorle Estrada in July 2013.

Sabillo remains undefeated in 24 fights, but he’s expected to get a tough challenge from the 20-year-old Rodriguez who boasts of 9 knockouts in 13 victories.

Sabillo, however, remains unfazed despite his opponent’s credentials.

"We had a great camp and even in the backyard of my challenger I’ll defeat him… fights between Mexicans and Filipinos are guarantees of great fights, and Saturday against Rodriguez will be no exception. I’m coming to give everything in the ring," he said.

The Sabillo-Rodriguez bout will be aired on ABS-CBN Sport+Action on Sunday.
