World middleweight champion Sergio Martinez said on Tuesday he was confident about beating Puerto Rican Miguel Angel Cotto in Madison Square Garden in New York on June 7, to defend his title.

The 39-year-old southpaw known as 'Maravilla' (Marvel) said the fight would be won by the most intelligent fighter, which is himself.

"I'm like the anti-boxer in front of Cotto and that is will make this fight attractive. Let's see who is more intelligent. This fight will not be won by the strongest of fastest, which is myself but the most intelligent one, who is also me," he said.

Martinez added it will be a spectacular event.

"I hope Aerolineas Argentinas sells out all their tickets and has to provide more routes. That day will be spectacular because it will be like no other. I reckon there will be about 21,000 people there I think about 5,000 or 6,000 of them will be Argentinean. Enough to eat away at the Puerto Ricans," he said.

Martinez told a packed news conference at the Intercontinental hotel in Buenos Aires, he enjoyed working under pressure, adding it would be a knockout fight.

"I like working under pressure. I like to be under pressure because I respond better and surely Cotto, with his background, will also respond better under pressure and I think that's an additional ingredient to both give a better performance. But on the night, Cotto will not be able to cope with me, on the contrary, Cotto will leave asleep after a knockout during the fight," he said.

Martinez, has emerged at the very top of boxing late in his career after a decade climbing the ladder in Spain.

The Martinez - Cotto fight was organised by Top Rank, led by New York veteran businessman Bob Arum.

Martinez won his middleweight title in 2012 after beating Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez jr in Las Vegas and then defended his title against British fighter Martin Murray in April 2013 at the Velez Sarsfield stadium.
