Balkman shoves teammates, coach in loss to Alaska
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - Petron Blaze Boosters import Renaldo Balkman suffered an emotional meltdown and choked teammate Arwind Santos following their 73-83 loss to the Alaska Aces in the PBA Friday night.
Balkman, who was shut down to just 6 points by the Aces' defense, went berserk after he was whistled for a foul in the game's dying seconds.
He confronted the PBA referees and shoved teammate Ronald Tubid and assistant coach Biboy Ravanes.
Santos, who is co-captain of the Boosters, tried to pacify Balkman, who also shoved him.
Santos pushed back and Balkman replied with a chokehold.
It took Petron's entire bench to end the melee and their import's meltdown.
Balkman apologized to Santos and their teammates after the altercation.
Santos, who was not injured, said he accepted their import's apology.
However, the former Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks player has been ordered to appear before PBA Commissioner Chito Salud on Monday, reports said. - with a report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News
