MANILA, Philippines – PBA Philippine Cup cellar-dweller Air21 and GlobalPort hope to get off to a strong start in the new conference when they face off against each other Wednesday at SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Air21 finished in last place in the Philippine Cup, while GlobalPort wound up in seventh place, advancing to the playoffs but losing after just one game to eventual finalist Rain or Shine.

Both teams made several changes in the break between conferences. Air21 added Jonas Villanueva, Sean Anthony and Eliud Poligrates in a trade that saw the departure of leading scorer KG Canaleta from the team.

Meanwhile, GlobalPort traded Sol Mercado for Alex Cabagnot and Bonbon Custodio, and also hired Pido Jarencio as its new coach.

Air21 has tabbed Ivory Coast native Herve Lamizana as their import, giving the franchise another post option aside from Asi Taulava, Vic Manuel and Carlo Sharma.

GlobalPort took Evan Brock, who previously suited up for Barako Bull in last season’s Commissioner’s Cup.

Game time is at 5:45 p.m.
