MANILA, Philippines -- Ateneo phenom Marck Espejo completed a rare double in UAAP men's volleyball after he was named the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the Season 76 tournament.

It was the first time in the history of the tournament that the same player won the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards.

University of Santo Tomas (UST) standout Mark Gil Alfafara came away with three awards: Best Scorer, Best Spiker, and Best Server.

Julius Evan Raymundo of the University of the Philippines was the Best Blocker of the season.

Two other Ateneans also received awards: Ish Polvorosa for Best Setter and John Paul Pareja for Best Receiver.

Meanwhile, Adamson's Rence Melgar nabbed the Best Digger award.

Espejo was superb for Ateneo all season long, and led the Blue Eagles to their first Finals appearance in two decades.

They currently trail the National University Bulldogs 0-1 in the best-of-three Finals series.
