former four-division world champion Nonito Donaire
MANILA, Philippines – The details of the featherweight title clash between former four-division world champion Nonito Donaire and South African Simpiwe Vetyetka have already been finalized, boxing promoter Bob Arum said.
“As a matter of fact, we agreed on terms with everybody today (Tuesday) and we are getting the contract to Nonito tomorrow morning. But it's all agreed to," the Top Rank Inc. executive told Boxing Scene’s Ronnie Nathanielsz.
Arum said the fight will take place at the Cotai Arena in Macau on May 31 with Vetyeka’s IBF featherweight title at stake.
The South African won the title by knocking out Indonesian boxing star Chris John in the sixth round last December.
The May 31 fight will be Donaire’s first title bout since losing his WBA super bantamweight crown to Guillermo Rigondeaux on November 9.
Donaire said he’s expecting a tough battle against Vetyeka, whom he regards as the best in the featherweight class.
"(Vetyeka) is a really good fighter. I think he's the toughest of all the guys in that division. He's slick, he's got power. Pretty good," said the Filipino Flash.
