Griffin powers Clippers over Howard, Rockets

Clippers 101, Rockets 93

Blake Griffin scored 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Houston Rockets 101-93.

The Clippers (40-20) beat the Rockets for the third straight time while the Rockets (39-19) lost for only the second time in 12 games.

Former Laker Dwight Howard, who was booed each time he touched the ball, led the Rockets with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Houston guard James Harden, who scored a season-high 43 points in a rout of the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, scored 18 points and committed six turnovers.

Trail Blazers 124, Nets 80

Mo Williams came off the bench for a season-high 21 points to go with seven assists and six rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers blew away the Brooklyn Nets.

Nicolas Batum contributed 19 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Trail Blazers (40-18), who won for the fourth straight game.

Deron Williams led the Nets (26-29) with 12 points.

Jazz 109, Suns 86

Shooting guard Gordon Hayward flirted with his first triple-double, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, and seven Jazz players scored in double figures in Utah's victory over the Phoenix Suns.

He did not play the final six minutes as the Jazz (21-36) cruised to their second straight win overall and against Phoenix.

The slumping Suns (33-24) played without Goran Dragic (sprained ankle) Eric Bledsoe (knee), guard Leandro Barbosa (toe) and center Viacheslav Kravtsov (ankle).
