Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star guard Jimmy Butler underwent successful meniscus surgery on his right knee, the team announced Sunday.

The operation was performed by Team Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Diane Dahm at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

The team said the 28-year-old Butler will be sidelined indefinitely as he goes through the rehabilitation process.

The injury occurred during the Timberwolves' 120-102 loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday night. Butler had to be carried off the court after he sustained the non-contact injury in the third quarter at Houston. He finished with 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting in 25 minutes.

Butler is averaging 22.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists this season, his first with Minnesota after spending his first six with the Chicago Bulls.
