MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing great Gerry Peñalosa has no doubt that his good friend, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, will avenge his controversial loss to American boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. when they face off on April 12.
Peñalosa was in the gym when Pacquiao held a sparring session for the first time in his training camp, and the former world super flyweight and bantamweight champion was suitably impressed.
Peñalosa believes that if Pacquiao continues to be aggressive in his training, then there will be no controversy in the rematch.
Peñalosa observed that Pacquiao is already in good condition even though he has been training for just a couple of weeks. He attributed this to the fact that the Fighting Congressman did not stop working out after his decision victory over Brandon Rios late last year.
“After niyang lumaban, tuloy-tuloy pa rin ‘yung ensayo niya,” Peñalosa said. “Hindi niya pinabayaan ‘yung sarili.” -- From a report by Jay Dayupay, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN
