Fil-Am Julaton keeps WBO crown
POINT RICHMOND, California – Mexican-American fighter Franchesca Alcanter may be bigger and heavier but she was still no match to the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) women's super bantamweight champion Ana Julaton.
The Filipina boxer gets to keep her crown after dominating Alcanter in Friday night’s bout (Saturday in Manila) at the Craneway Pavilion in Point Richmond, California.
Most of Julaton's punches landed on Alcanter's face.
All three judges gave the 10-round bout to Julaton with scores of 96-94, 98-92, and 97-93.
Dubbed “The Hurricane” Julaton, she trains under Manny Pacquiao’s coach, Freddie Roach. At one point in her career, she also trained under Nonito Donaire Sr.
She has appeared in 8 previous professional fights.
Alcanter, on the other hand, is a professional American boxer from Missouri who has been fighting professionally since 1999. A fitness trainer by day, she has managed to keep a career in female boxing with 9 knockouts as part of an 18-9-1 record.
She calls herself “The Chosen One”.
